Y9 2024 Winter Dance

This year, the Y9 Focus Group organised a Winter Dance. Similarly to the last Spring Party, I coordinated the performances and dabbled in entertainment aspects of the dance. However, this time different Student Council Representatives and a different Head of Year coordinated the event, implementing changes that I found difficult to adapt.

Initially, I had a bit of trouble organising the performances. This is because it was difficult to adapt to the different ways this dance was going to be organised compared to the event last year. There were different formats in organising groups and roles for the event, and I didn’t know how to handle these changes. In summary, I wasn’t keeping an open mind to the changes being made, and therefore couldn’t adapt.

However, as I observed the planning committee for the Winter Dance, I came to the realisation that everybody has come to accept these changes and it is important to not only keep an open mind, but also effectively communicate when problems arise.
