Y8 Tech Ninja

A technology based community to learn skills and educate peers.

When I heard of Tech Ninja, I wanted to join, but was dubious of my own technological skillset. I didn’t know whether I had enough experience with technology, and whether my knowledge could help others. I have heard it was fun, and the community did interest me, but I was afraid of failure, afraid that none of my skills could be used or helpful to others. However, with my friend’s encouragement, I decided to give it a try.

Joining Tech Ninja, I was able to interact with many people, and even if my coding skills weren’t up to scratch, the community made me feel like there were other things I could do, both to help and belong.

Now, we are running Tech Ninja Advisory Visits for topics the Year 7 and 8 Head of Years suggested, such as organising Calendar and Gmail, writing good emails, etc. I realised this was something I could help with. There is always something that will come, and I could help out with that, even if it is not my strongest skill.

Now, I appreciate the Tech Ninja, and how they make people feel like they belong. There is no harm in a community with a sense of belonging, and they will always organise something so that different people can shine in the limelight.
